MDA Fill the Boot Drive
The members of the Wichita Falls Fire Department are very active in the community while off duty as well as on duty. Our members work very hard each year to raise money for Jerry’s Kids through the
MDA Fill the Boot Drive. Every year, usually around Labor Day, fire fighters take to the street with boots in hand all over the United States in an effort to raise money for the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
It is our hope that some day a cure for this awful disease will be found through research funded in part by our organization. Over 300 man hours are donated by the fire fighters of Wichita Falls every year for this cause. Over the last 4 years, $60,570.38 dollars have been collected by the members of the Fire Department expending over 1200 off-duty hours
Hotter'N Hell Hundred
The Wichita Falls Fire Department has participated in the Hotter than Hell Hundred bike ride/race since it’s inception in August of 1981. We provide manpower for the last rest stop with many of our members and their families helping out. For the last several years we have provided roaming medical responders to attend to the thousands of riders.
Operation Santa Claus
Members of the Department come together each year to assemble bikes and gather toys for the kids. Last Christmas, over 700 bikes were given to the needy children in our community. Operation Santa Claus spends thousands of dollars on bikes and toys each year for the kids in our area.
With no help from any State or Federal agencies, Operation Santa Claus provides new bicycles and toys to over 1000 children each year, keeping the hope of Santa Claus alive. The members of the Fire Department contribute over 1000 off-duty hours to this effort.
