The Wichita Falls Fire Marshal’s Division is responsible for all Fire Prevention and Education programs, Fire Inspections and Fire Investigation within the incorporated city limits of Wichita Falls. The Fire Marshal’s Division is also responsible for the review and inspection of various fire protection systems related to new and existing construction as well as other life safety features. In addition, the Fire Marshal’s Division acts as Public Information Officers for the Wichita Falls Fire Department. The division consists of the Fire Marshal and three Assistant Fire Marshals who are certified in Inspection, Plan Review, and Investigation.
Fire Marshal Craig Berend has served the citizens of Wichita Falls since March of 1998. He has served the department in multiple roles through the years working his way up through the ranks. He is currently over the Fire Marshal Division, which oversees fire investigations, fire inspection, code enforcement, plans review, and public education.
Through his time on the department, he has been able to gain certifications through the Texas Commission on Fire Protection as a Master Firefighter, Instructor II, Fire Officer, Investigator, Inspector, Incident Safety Officer, Haz-Mat Technician, Haz- Mat Incident Commander. He is also a 1996 graduate of Midwestern State University and has successfully completed the Texas Fire Chief’s Academy.
