People coming into Wichita Falls on Highway 287 from the south are now greeted with a new landscaped highway median. This was a joint project between TxDOT and the City of Wichita Falls in 2004. TxDOT provided funding and contracted all the stonework, and the landscape was designed and installed by the Parks Maintenance Division. They are also responsible for its maintenance.
