  3. Free Compost Giveaway is This Saturday

    Wichita Falls, Texas- The City of Wichita Falls is once again happy to offer a free load of organic compost to residents who participate in the Choose to Reuse Program. The compost giveaway is Saturday, October 1, 2022, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM at the City Landfill. City staff will load a limit of one pickup truck or 4x8 trailer per person. All loads must be covered according to state law, city employees must see participants cover material before the compost is loaded. Residents must bring a City of Wichita Falls water bill showing the $3.00 recycling charge to get the free compost load. No dump trucks, commercial vehicles, or oversized trailers will be loaded. For commercial operation compost purchases, contact the Wichita Falls Landfill at 940-631-8274.

  4. Library host "Touch a Truck" Event

    This free interactive event provides an opportunity for kids to learn about and explore their favorite big trucks and vehicles. In addition to climbing into cabs and honking horns, kids also get a chance to meet the people who build, protect, and serve Wichita Falls and its surrounding communities. “We’ve got some new vehicles this year and we think it’s going to be even bigger than it was last year,” said Jana Hausburg, Library Administrator. “We’ve got DJ Marcus McGee coming, a variety of food trucks, and other kid-friendly organizations like Head Start and Southern Grit.” Vehicles will be showcased in the library’s parking lot so, those visiting the library can park along Indiana or Ohio streets, or use the parking lot located at 10th and Ohio, behind the Wichita Theatre.
