    The Wichita Falls Public Library is still seeking original artwork from all local artist to celebrate their 100-year anniversary. To be eligible you must be 14 years of age and older, original paintings, drawings, photographs and mixed media on canvas will be accepted. Artwork must be able to be hung on a wall and must not exceed 24 inches by 36 inches. Submission Deadline is October 15, 2018.

    Costume Parade and Contest: All ages, groups or individuals. Register between 4:30 pm - 5:00 pm at Lucy Park Log Cabin. A parade begins at 5:00 pm followed by judging at 5:45 pm (13 awards will be presented. Groups constitute one entry). Pumpkin Decorating Contest: Decorating - Not Carving. For ages 10 and under - boys & girls begins at 6:00 pm. Decorating, judging, & awards (limited number of participants. First come, first served). General activities: bounce house, balloon sculptures (10 & under), cake walk (every half hour, begins at 6:00 pm).   21. Wichita Falls Parks & Recreation: Canine Courses Session 5

    October 22, 2018, 6:00 PM - 7:00 PM @ Obedience Training Club

    The Canine Good Citizen Program is a two-part program that stresses responsible pet ownership for owners and basic good manners for dogs. All dogs who pass the 10-step CGC test will receive a copy of the test which may be submitted to the American Kennel Club, with appropriate fees, for an official CGC certificate. Handlers will learn a variety of training skills to help build a better relationship with their dog. Skill include: walking on a leash, teaching the dog to sit, down, and stay when asked. The handler will be shown humane ways to redirect unwanted behavior in their dogs.

    VITA is the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program that has provided free tax preparation to households at or below $64,000 this volunteer staff was able to assist over 3, 500 people last year. If you want to learn a new life skill, boost your resume, keep your mind sharp, and/or get all volunteer hours you need/want they will have 6 sessions to choose from but you must attend ALL the classes provided in that session.
