What is an STI?
It is a sexually transmitted infection that is passed during sex. Most STI’s are spread during anal, oral sex, vaginal sex. Some STI’s, like HIV, are spread by contact with infected blood. STI germs need to live in warm, moist area and that is why they infect the mouth, rectum, penis and vagina.
An STI will not just go away by itself. Many STI’s can be cured, but ALL STI’s need to be treated.
We strongly encourage routine testing for anyone sexually active whether you are having symptoms or not! Most people with STI’s do not have symptoms.
The Wichita Falls Wichita County Public Health District offers confidential testing at a very reasonable fee. If you feel you may have an STI or would like routine testing call 940-761-7841 to schedule an appointment.
